If your system boots, you can look in the Event Log for messages like this. so I would make an effort to rule some of these things out first. (if your system is a desktop especially) etc. It could be a lot of thingsĪnd sometimes this problem can only be solved by a process of elimination. It could be a hardware driver (video, audio, network). This is almost always a hardware problem - either faulty RAM, a failing hard drive, low CMOS battery, loose connections, or it could be something like a marginal power supply. You've already pursued some of these things/questions but here is what I usually say about what you are seeing - other folks may have some ideas too:
